Career Counselling Session with Class 9 & 10 Students

Hem Sheela School organized a comprehensive career counselling session for Class 9 and 10 students on the 6th of July, 2024. The event aimed to provide students with insights into various career paths and the significance of different subjects in shaping their futures.

The program commenced with an inspiring opening speech by the Principal, Miss Anindita Home Choudhury, who emphasized the importance of early career planning and the role of education in achieving one’s aspirations. Following her address, the Senior Vice Principal, Mr. Indrashish Roy, further motivated the students by highlighting the diverse opportunities available in today’s world and the importance of aligning one’s interests with their career choices.

The session then proceeded with presentations by the Heads of Departments (HODs) from various disciplines. Each HOD shared valuable information through detailed slide presentations, covering the scope, career prospects, and academic pathways associated with their respective subjects. The departments and their representatives were as follows:

Computer Science: The HOD discussed the evolving landscape of technology, the importance of coding skills, and careers in software development, data science, and cybersecurity.
Mathematics: The session highlighted the critical role of mathematics in fields such as engineering, economics, and research, and the various career options available to those with strong mathematical skills.
Physics: Students learned about careers in research, engineering, and technology, and the exciting developments in fields like quantum mechanics and astrophysics.
Chemistry: The HOD presented the various opportunities in pharmaceuticals, research, environmental science, and industrial chemistry.
Biology: The session covered careers in medicine, biotechnology, environmental science, and research, emphasizing the importance of biology in understanding and solving real-world problems.
Accounts: Students were introduced to careers in finance, accounting, auditing, and business management, with a focus on the skills required for success in these fields.
Economics: The HOD explained the significance of economics in various sectors, including government, finance, business, and international relations.
Bengali: The session highlighted the importance of language and literature in careers such as teaching, translation, journalism, and content writing.
English: The HOD discussed careers in journalism, publishing, teaching, and creative writing, emphasizing the global relevance of English proficiency.

The event was well-received by the students, who actively participated and engaged with the speakers, asking insightful questions and seeking guidance on their future career paths. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by the Senior Vice Principal, Mr. Indrashish Roy, who appreciated the efforts of the HODs and encouraged students to pursue their passions with dedication and enthusiasm.
